This session will provide a comprehensive and practical guide to managing critical exceptions and compliance requirements across various payment types, ensuring your institution can effectively mitigate risk and resolve disputes.

We'll start with ACH Exception Handling, detailing the rules and processes for resolving unauthorized transactions, including the proper use and submission of Written Statements of Unauthorized Debits (WSUDs). The discussion will also cover the unique regulations and handling procedures specific to Federal Government Payments made via ACH.

After lunch, the focus shifts to Check Warranties and the liabilities associated with altered or unauthorized instruments. We'll clarify the essential warranties made by parties in the check collection process and examine the specific implications of:

  • Alterations
  • Forged Maker's Signatures
  • Counterfeits

Finally, the session will break down the Claims Made for Breach of Warranty, outlining the proper procedures, timelines, and legal basis for recovering funds when a warranty is violated. Attendees will leave with actionable knowledge to streamline exception processing and enhance compliance in both the ACH and check environments.

This informative session is ideal for Payments Operations, Fraud, Risk, and Compliance Staff, AAPs, and APRPs.
